Don’t get us wrong: it is a great music festival! But our goal isn’t just to bring great local, regional, and international talent to the stage. Our Mission is also keenly set on the stewardship of Broad Ripple Park and The White River and on community Wellness. As part of that latter focus, Monday, September 1st, is the WARMfest “community day.”
· Yoga for Adults & Kids, led Karen Fox and other teachers from The Yoga Studio
· Zumba, instructed by Cesar Acosta, from Cesar’s Group Fitness Studio
· Acro Yoga, presented by Jessalyn Oxford
· Paddleboard Yoga, with Heather Leo of HTL Yoga
Paddleboard Yoga is performed with a paddle board in the water. This session you will learn basic paddle strokes, where to stand on the board, proper navigation & handling, and more. Kids are more than welcomed to join, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and wear a life jacket during the session. The focus of Paddleboard Yoga is flexibility development, breath control, and balance enhancement.
The therapeutic Acro-Yoga blends elements from the wisdom of yoga with the dynamics of acrobatics and the kindness of the healing arts. Co-Founded in 2003, this practice has cultivated trust, playfulness, and community in thousands of lives. Jessalyn Oxford, your guide for this session, is a founding member of Indy’s Acro Yoga community. Her classes are heartfelt, inspirational, and playful.
Cesar’s Group Fitness Studio, led by Cesar, refines the art of Zumba @mdash; a fusion of “heart-thumpin’, body-pumpin’, good time of Latin and international dance music and moves,” as described by Cesar himself. He creates and fosters and a dynamic, yet nuanced, fitness system that is exciting, effective, and, most of all, fun! Check out the studio’s Facebook page for more details and some amazing videos!
Some IAVM vendors will be ever-present throughout WARMfest all weekend, the Community Day is their main day. As always, IAVM will bring their atypical and unique sense of responsible consumerism not normally present in the vending areas of modern music festivals.
Certainly! While all this is going on, there will still be plenty of music! The ever-popular Twin Cats and Hyryder will be performing, as well was DJ sets from DJ Kyle Long and DJ Stroble, providing an amazing soundtrack to Community Day.
WARMfest‘s Community Day @mdash; Monday, September 1st @mdash; is part of your @WARMfest weekend passes, but individual Monday tickets can be purchased here. (Children 10 and younger get in FREE with a ticket-holding adult.)
