Instead of invading Broad Ripple’s bars, clubs and record stores, the 7th annual Broad Ripple Music Fest (BRMF) has joined forces with WARMfest, a three-day music festival that is taking place August 31-September 2 in Broad Ripple Park. Broad Ripple Music Fest isn’t merging or disappearing — it’s taking place at WARMfest by presenting the local and regional music components of the event.
Local company SmallBox, who would host the annual event SXSW style with individual promoters at different venues, founded BRMF in 2007. The attendance of BRMF has increased year over year, featuring bigger acts and expanding into outdoor stages in tents. For 2013, one of BRMF’s founding team members and current festival director, Jack Shepler, investigated the idea of putting the event in Broad Ripple Park. After meeting and realizing that WARMfest founder Dan Ripley had similar goals, they decided to join forces and make BRMF a part of the inaugural WARMfest.
“I’m extremely excited to make BRMF take place at the inaugural WARMfest, to have the honor of acting as festival director, and for the future of both events. We have an incredible team, including MOKB Presents, Bohlsen Group, an awesome production team, great sponsors and an incredible network of volunteers in place to make this event a success”, said BRMF and WARMfest festival director Jack Shepler.
Live music will be featured throughout the entire WARMfest run on five stages and will include a mix of national, regional and local talent. The initial lineup booked by MOKB Presents includes Big Head Todd and The Monsters, Michael Franti & Spearhead, JJ Grey & Mofro, G. Love & Special Sauce, Mayer Hawthorne, Delta Spirit, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Red Wanting Blue, Kopecky Family Band, DJ Logic and many more.
